While it feels like "Master of Ceremonies" could have been more, it(TM)s a solid effort worth checking out both for fans of Styles and New York rap in general.
Having dropped a long list of solo LPs, group albums and mixtapes since debuting with The L.O.X. in 1998, Styles P has firmly established himself as a top-tier lyricist. While he may not show up on as many “Top 5 Dead or Alive” lists as he may like, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who would deny his skills. Of course, Hip Hop History is full of great rappers who couldn’t convert those skills into a complete album; so even after all this time, Styles can’t rest on pedigree alone.Master of Ceremonies starts off a little slow with “How I Fly” but doesn’t take too long to ramp up. The Sheek Louch assisted “Street Shit”
Pharrell helps provide an eighties Miami vibe on “Don’t Turn Away,” and while Styles doesn’t go full on “coke rap,” a little Scarface still makes it through. In addition to those already mentioned, Lloyd Banks, Pharoahe Monch, and Sheek (again) also show up, making the 12-track LP a little crowded, even without counting a handful of R&B singers. Each guest handles his duties appropriately, but as a group, they take a lot of time away from the star.
Styles does a good job being introspective on “Keep the Faith” and expressing his thoughts on the state of our youth on “Children,”
While there’s no telling how much closer this brings us to a new L.O.X. album, Styles is doing his best to represent the collective properly with his latest solo. While it feels like Master of Ceremonies could have been more, it’s a solid effort worth checking out both for fans of Styles specifically and New York rap in general. Admittedly, Styles still hasn’t quite hit the height of his potential, but he’s far from falling off while he continues the pursuit.
Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Cee Lo Green, Heavy D Pay Tribute At Michael Jackson Concert
It's a star-studded affair as fans and music stars alike gather to honor the King of Pop.
A veritable who's who of music was on deck to perform at Michael Jackson's tribute concert.Ne-Yo, one of many artists clearly influenced by the King of Pop, set the festivities off with classics such as "Billie Jean" and "The Lady in My Life," complete with jacket and glove.
Beyonce performed via satellite an Afro, and performed "I Wanna Be Where You Are," after being introduced by Jackson's children, Blanket, Prince and Paris.
Other performers included Christina Aguilera ("Smile," "Dirty Diana"), "X Factor" winner Alexandra Burke ("Who's Lovin' You," "Scream"), and Leona Lewis ("Strangers in Moscow").
A highlight of the show La Toya Jackson, whose performance was her first in two decades, performed "In the Closet" and "Jam" with Heavy D.
Cee Lo Green also contributed, belting out "I Can't Help It."

Method Man Expresses Desire To Collaborate With Tyler, The Creator
Meth also dismisses comparisons between Odd Future and Wu-Tang Clan.
After praising Odd Future and Tyler, The Creator this past June, Method Man is ready to reach out to the crew for collaboration. Speaking with VIBE.com’s Mikey Fresh, Johnny Blaze explained that he wants to get production from the OFWGKTA ringleader.“Right now I want to get that kid from Odd Future, Tyler, The Creator—I just want to hear some of the shit he got. He’s in that vein that I like as far as beats go,” he said, dismissing comparisons between OF and Wu-Tang Clan. “I don’t see any similarities, as far as the movement, maybe. But I don’t see any similarities because some of the shit they talk about. The shit we use to talk about was 5% Nation of Islam, Gods and Earth…you know, 'block shit.' Let them do them and I enjoy them. I’m not going to lie. And yes I do know more than just one song that they’ve done. Some of these people on Youtube and shit, they’re fucking incredible with their comments."
While he’s looking to collaborate with Tyler on the production tip, Meth spoke on how previous attempts to work with Just Blaze and Timbaland didn’t go as smoothly as expected.
"We’ve tried. I've tried [Just Blaze] a few times and it just didn’t work out. Timbaland on the other hand, he would send you a skeleton beat and I can’t rock to a skeleton beat. I need an actual beat because when I write, I write to the music, so that didn’t work out."

Take Care Album Cover Artwork [exclusive]
by Team Drake, 9 days ago
Feels like it’s been so long. Is life moving so fast in this generation that when we desire something it begins to move in slow motion? Are we just used to getting what we want right away? Or do we require one another to feel right about all that is going on around us? Maybe our anticipation is justified by the fact that we genuinely cannot wait to share a moment again? Either way, your life and mine are scheduled to meet on October 24…I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
See you soon.
